Slip Resistance Engineered Into The Profile
Velp has added a dedicated grip strut safety grating line to its product portfolio, covering grip strut plank grating and perforated traction tread stair treads. The product is aimed at plant engineers, OEM equipment builders and contractors specifying walkways where oil, water or ice make flat plate unsafe.
Grip strut differs from ordinary bar grating: the load-bearing plank is formed with a continuous saw-tooth surface, so traction exists on every square centimeter, not only at the front edge of a tread. The open profile also lets liquids and debris fall through instead of pooling.

Safety And Cost Benefits
Because the plank combines the walking surface and the structural member, a grip strut platform uses less steel than a bar grating plus chequer plate solution. Velp's engineering support helps buyers convert standard plank sizes into cut lists, which reduces offcut waste and site labor.
For retrofit projects, Velp supplies perforated traction treads drilled to match existing stair stringers, so a full flight can be re-surfaced without welding. Galvanized plank is specified for outdoor and wet service, while aluminum is preferred where weight reduction matters, such as mobile access equipment.
